SSET - SpaceSystem Simulator for EGSE Testing

SSET is a desktop Space System Simulator, receiving TC and sending TM packets configured by SCOS MIB, so serving as a basic UUT that can close a Monitoring and Control loop. Its main features include:

  • Packet TM/TC encoding/decoding according to SCOS MIB definitions, observing and (partially) enforcing compliance to the Packet Utilization Standard ECSS-E-70-41A).
  • Automated Service 1 response patterns (including user-directed customization per APID)
  • Advanced cyclic TM packet scheduler with multiple independent cycles
  • Scheduled Spacecraft Time Source Packet (STSP) emission
  • Separate Onboard/Ground Timeline simulation capability
  • Back-end scripting to tailor specific response patterns to TC and dynamic parameter value behaviour.
  • Set and retrieve/verify values of TM/TC parameters, as raw and/or engineering values
  • Advanced error injection functions at packet / parameter level
  • On-the-fly manual definition/injection of raw TM/TC packets
  • Ground systems simulation including multiple SCOE and TM/TC Front-End behavioral emulation
  • Graphical User Interface for detailed local monitoring and control of the simulator.
  • Integration with other software systems is possible via:
    • ESA EGSERouter interface
    • EDEN interface
    • SSET API (C-interface compatible)
  • Full set of documentation (User Manual, Data ICD etc.) included with the distribution

SSET runs on Windows 7 / Windows 10, and is distributed in pre-compiled ready-to-install binary form only. It is also distributed in the context of the ESA/ESTEC EGSE Reference Facility (ERF), and its upcoming successor, the EGS-CC Reference Facility (ERF-CC).
